Could Arsenal Afford To Lose Clichy

The rumors certain has circulating around nowabout the possible departure of Gael Clichy to AC Milan. This sure has give a lot a gooners a thing to concern about. Should we worry to much?

For me, I wouldn't worry a lot about the possible departure of Clichy. Arsene will sure made a right decision whether to sell or keep Clichy. The possible replacement surely be Kieran Gibbs. For all this while during Arsene reign, Arsenal always have a good leftback both the regular or the cover.

When we have Winterburn as 1st choice, we have Sylvinho. Then Winterburn are released, we have Sylvinho & Ashley Cole. Then Sylvinho released, we have Cole & Clichy. After Cole released, we only have Clichy at first until we have to use Flamini as cover for the leftback. Now we have Gibbs. Will Arsene will be tempted to let go Clichy and put Gibbs as the 1st choice?

Clichy have serve Arsenal well. But he sure cost Arsenal a lot too. Remember the game against Birmingham (where Eduardo broke his leg), Arsenal are leading by 2-1. Then a second of lapse from Clichy leave the ball past him and reach to birmingham player at the box. In order to regain the ball he foul and conceed the penalty which cost us the game and the title that year. That only 1 costly mistake. There also a few which I can't remember as it not that costly in that game unlike the Birmingham game.

For me, if Gibbs can keep fit, I would have no problem to see Clichy go as long as the price is reasonable as Arsenal always have the tradition of producing a great leftback.

Fabianski remind me of Stuart Taylor

Arsenal no.2 Fabiaski will get his chances to claim no.1 jersey from Almunia. Despite all the hype & potential, he yet to dethrone Almunia. Fabianski have the build as a goalkeeper. He really remind me of Stuart Taylor(ex-Arsenal).

Taylor have the potential to become a great goalkeeper and many have tip him as David Seaman replacement for both club & country. He have his chances and have really decent game between the post but injuries have restricted his development. After a few season struggling with injuries, Arsene really impatient and release him.

I hope Fabianski wouldn't have the same fate with Taylor. I really see him as a long term Arsenal no.1. He have all the years in him and also have the experience which not many goalkeeper in his age have. Through game he will only get better.

But of course he have to have the fate in his own ability & take his chances when it comes. Tonight at CL against Porto, he have the oppurtunity to show his ability and slowly take his place as no.1. I really looking forward to his performance against Porto.
