Wembley, Here We Come

Arsenal have complete their big mission in the past two midweek game and it mean Arsenal are in still contention in winning both FA Cup and Carling Cup. The FA Cup journey will continue this weekend against Huddersfield Town and Arsenal might find their loanee go up against them in the form of Benik Afome. But before we look forward to FA Cup this weekend, let us just enjoy of Arsenal success in the semi-final which guaranteed Arsenal place in Wembley on February 27.

Arsenal come to last night second leg semi-final clash with Ipswich Town with 1 goal deficit. And as expected, Ipswich only have 1 thing in their mind that is to ensure Arsenal didn't score and defend the lead. And even Szczesny make a bullish statement that even if Ipswich park a bus or tractor in front of their goal, Arsenal still will slaughter them. Szczesny statement might seems arrogance to some, but guess what, Arsenal did slaughter them with a 3 goals in the second half without conceding. I guess it is a high time that Arsenal need to taunt other team just to boost up their confidence.

It is quite frustrating at first that it seems like Arsenal wouldn't find the back of the net. but NickiB justified his selection by scoring the first goal of the night eventhough he didn't have a very good game. After that a goal each from Koscielny and Cesc have guaranteed Arsenal place to next month final.

It have been a good week for Arsenal having score 3 goals for 4 matches running. I really looking forward to the next two week as Arsenal build up for a titan clash against Barcelona on the February 16. If Arsenal continue this kind of form, I confident Barcelona is not an obstacle and they can kiss the Champion League goodbye. Come on Arsenal keep this momentum going on and never look back. ManU and Barca, watch out for Arsenal.

A Next Big Mission For Arsenal

In my previous blog post, I write how the two weekdays game of the FA Cup against Leeds and Carling Cup against Ipswich Town is a do or die mission.

Today Arsenal will encounter a big task ahead of them. And to make thing not as easy as it should be, Arsene might not field the side which demolished Wigan last Saturday. But the positive thing is, he might field the same side that put Leeds cup hope buried.

What worrying me for tonight game is how Ipswich will approach the game. Even with all the free flow game Arsenal play with no matter who play in the starting eleven, Arsenal sometimes find it hard to break the dead lock when the team play with a negative approach and a 0-0 draw will be enough for Ipswich.

Luckily there is no rules that allow any team to field more than 1 goalkeeper. If there is such a rule which allow team to field more than 1 goalkeeper, I think Ipswich will come to this game playing with 5 goalkeepers with 4 centre back and 2 full back. Since Ipswich can only fielded only 1 goalkeeper, I am very optimistic that Arsenal sooner or later will scores. Ipswich might look to defend the 1-0 advantages and try to break on the counter attack and set pieces.

I really hope Arsene will put on Robin van Persie, Fabregas, Theo and Nasri at least on the bench if he not put them in the starting eleven as a plan B in case Arsenal really need a goal. I don't see any change in the defensive area with maybe just Eboue and Gibbs start in place of Sagna and Clichy. And I hope Song and Wilshere will start in the midfield to provide more aggression. And if possible, I would love to see Aaron Ramsey back playing at some stage.

A win will boost Arsenal players morale. Arsenal need to maintain their winning run continue to give them the self believe before the game against Barcelona. To have the advantages and upper hand over other teams in the league, Arsenal need to win this game and win the Carling Cup. Come on Arsenal. You can do it.

It's A Do Or Die Mission For Arsenal

The final two midweek fixture for this month will be considered a do or die mission for Arsenal. Despite being draw with a championship side, Arsenal fail to beat them and put the competition to bed.

The first test will be tonight against Leeds Utd which have been unbeaten at home this season. It is just a news we want to hear especially an almost shocking exit last week despite having a home advantages. But I guess that is just Arsenal. They love making things hard for them self. Arsenal need to be the first team to win at Elland Road this season if they want to progress. A draw will not make the fans satisfied. Anything less than a win is a poor performance this evening.

Next week it will be against Ipswich at Emirates. This is a tricky fixture. The first leg should have been put on bed but a shocking defeat leave Arsenal need to win this game. And this is a must win game. A draw would not be enough and that what make it tricky. If a team can field more than 1 goalkeeper, I think Ipswich will come to this fixture with 5 goalkeepers and 6 defenders as long as they don't lose. So this game will prove how good Arsenal will be turning a deficit into an advantage.

The selection for the previous fixture is not a problem. As everybody knows, Arsenal is the only team now at the EPL can field a totally two different team and all of the players fixture for both team is a great players and worth a starting eleven place. The problem from the previous game for my point of view is their mentality. They have all the possession and despite all the chances they fail to score a goal. Maybe that what make they difference between the first team and the second team which is how they can convert chances into goals. And for whoever Arsene might select for this two games, they must do their best and please score a lot of goals.

So the next two midweek game might be the turning point for Arsenal drought of silverware. Arsenal cannot afford to exit this two cup competition now in order to keep their momentum going for the bigger test in the Premier League and Champion League. So please Arsenal, win this matches and make us optimistic about this season.
